Safest Schools in the Nation

Washington is the safest state in the country for high school students, according to a new study by scholarship search platform Scholaroo that analyzed 11 safety metrics graded on a 100-pt. scale. Delaware and Kentucky ranked second and third respectively.
Scholaroo examined various safety metrics in public school districts across the country to determine the safest state for high schoolers. The metrics explored included bullying, cyberbullying, the number of state statutes and regulations related to school resource officers, exposure to illegal drugs, number of school shootings, forced sexual intercourse, and physical attack or fight with a weapon.
Categorically, California had the lowest rate of bullying while Wyoming had the highest; Connecticut students had the lowest exposure to illegal drugs with California students having the highest; Rhode Island had the lowest incidence of school shootings, Texas ranking the highest; Washington students has the lowest incidence of forced sexual intercourse; Arkansas had the highest; and Kentucky has the lowest rate of physical attack or fight with a weapon, Rhode Island had the highest.
