Free Resources Available for Return to School Safety
By Campus Contingency
Educators can access the latest available resources to create safe and supportive learning environments to begin the new school year by visiting SchoolSafety.gov.
These Back-to-School Campaign resources—including an animated video, communications toolkit, infographics, and social media posts and graphics—can be copied, downloaded and shared by K-12 educators and administrators.
Users can tailor and use the free materials to suit their needs, to inform and enhance school safety programs and activities in preparation for and during the back-to-school season and beyond.
SchoolSafety.gov is a collaborative, interagency website created by the Federal government to provide schools and districts with actionable recommendations to create safe and supportive learning environments for students and educators. Members of the K-12 academic community can use tools and information from the site to prioritize school safety actions, find applicable resources and funding opportunities, connect with state and local school safety officials, and develop school safety plans.
SchoolSafety.gov is the public website of the Federal School Safety Clearinghouse (Federal Clearinghouse on School Safety Evidence-Based Practices), an interagency effort among the Departments of Education, Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, and Justice.
The back-to-school season can be an exciting time, but it also serves as a reminder for the continuous need to create and maintain safe and supportive environments for students and educators.
Some of the key back-to-school safety issues addressed on the site include:
Bullying and Cyberbullying
Child Exploitation
Cybersecurity
Emergency Planning
Infectious Diseases and Public Health
Mental Health
School Climate
Targeted Violence
Threat Assessment and Reporting
