Utah Names New State Security Chief

The Utah Department of Public Safety has appointed Matt Pennington to the newly created position of state security chief.

Created in response to HB61, which was passed last year, the new position was established to connect the appointed state security chief with the Utah State Board of Education, county sheriffs, law enforcement, school resource officers, individual schools and districts. Pennington stated that his first objective will be to standardize safety procedures and protocols.

Pennington’s extensive experience with the Weber County Sheriff’s Office, South Jordan Police Department, and South Valley SWAT team make him the perfect liaison for this position.
